I have bad concerned about few people who are older than 30 and who are deaf too. They really wanted to become a bus driver, hometown transit system, and etc. I know there are few states of governments doesn't approved the deaf people to drive them. It said, because it wasn't safe. So this is how we don't feel right for being under Government's issued for against deaf people's hopes. I have no IDEA why they doesn't approved this???

Deaf people could do anything except hear.

Oh yes. My husband is hard of hearing. He is allowed to drive a Semi-Truck. I am sure you will be hired for being deaf work at UPS, or postman whatever. but not semi.. because semi is more dangerous and need to be required to hear with hearing aids with ear exam.

Alina,

I understand about this. I think I just disagreed with the agreement of the hear situation required. How could you be feeling about if someone really wants the mostly of their major of doing this is what to be ruined as not good courage of itself's feeling against by Government or whenever who made an decidison.

I think I quite want to make it APPROVED. Semi is more dangerous for hearing and deaf people. They are all the same human EXCEPT the hear, this is all. Deaf people quite have a good vision while the driving time, and of what is less accident by the Deaf people than Hearing people. Could you tell what is the different between deaf and hearing people.. how often it gets accident by what? Hearing? Deaf? Semi is more dangerous.. could be quite the same as school bus. The school bus is more strict rules than Semi. If whenever gets happen, it would be immediately gets fines againist the children for being in the bus to get themselves hurt by the accident without compare to the Semi's back of 0% of children.

Does this make any sense? I could explain more good quality clear if don'.

Yes, I can see where you're coming from. But, have you considered the use of the CB radio equipment? In semi & school buses? I see this as more of a safety issue than a descrimination issue. This is the problem I see among the deaf community: Where they want to work somewhere or be someone & can't because of their deafness. I'm in college now for medical billing & coding. Then I'll continue for my bachelors in Healthcare Management. When I took the class "anatomy & physiology"; I had lab class and was learning about taking blood & giving IVs. I also have very mild CP (cerebral palsy) & shake a little. I would love to be a doctor or a surgeon but knew it was unrealistic for me to pursue that goal. Would you want someone who shakes taking your blood or give you an IV? Or maybe even do surgery on you?? I wasn't hurt or offended by the fact that I couldn't or won't get hired for it. I just knew that it wasn't a safe practice for me (or the patients) to be in. I was never told, I couldn't do it. Same thing with the visually impaired. I wouldn't want a doctor who is near blind to operate on me. The deaf community needs to understand that not everything is going to be about discrimination. I wouldn't want my children to ride a school bus with a driver who may or may not have a seizure or barely passed the eye exam. There was a time when I was driving & I was at a stop light. The light turned green so, I proceeded to go. Then all of a sudden I saw this ambulance with lights going off coming at me!! Good thing I sped up to get out of the way. What if that happens with a bus driver driving a bus full of children?? There would be a lot of lawsuits against the school district by parents. I hope I helped some. I do understand the challenges of being deaf & we need to see & understand both sides of the issue before getting defensive.
